2000年以降、Google創設者ラリー・ページやFacebook創設者マーク・ザッカーバーグなど理系のスーパースターが、世界をガラリと変える新サービスをどんどん創出する時代になりました。しかし今の日本は若い人の理系離れが進行していて、特に「理系を志す女性」が非常に少ないそうです。そこで日本のスーパースターになれるような理系女子を増やすには、一体どうすればいいでしょう？
2000 onward has been an era where science superstars such as Google founder Larry Page and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg changed the world completely with new services. Yet in Japan, young people are losing interest in science and there are especially very few women aiming for scientific fields. Just what should we do to increase the number of science-minded women who could become Japanese superstars?

Nice! I could easily picture an elementary school girl playing with this. After feeding Rika-chan something she cooks, Rika-chan's face would turn blue, and I could see the girl having a eureka moment after researching why and realizing that salty taste is alkaline.

一般女子に流行らす方法、あともうワンステップ考えた方がいいのかなと思うよ。LED美顔器マインドストームとか、自分で組み立てて増強できるやつ。需要ありそうじゃない？
There is something similar to this on market already. It's called "Lego Mindstorms" and is a toy for creating and programming robots (http://mindstorms.lego.com/en-us/Default.aspx). I think we need to take this one step further to make this popular among the general female demographic. Something that we could assemble and enhance ourselves, like an LED facial massager Mindstorm for example. Don't you think there would be demand for something like this?

This sounds fun! Maybe some of the kids who play with this might try to understand how this actually works?
思い切ったタイトルに面白さを感じたな〜。女の子のオモチャっていつもプリセンスやアイドルばっかりで、ずっと上の世代のイケてる女性像があまり提案されないんだよね。「私もこんなスーパーオバさんになりたい！」って思えるリカちゃん人形や絵本、いいよね！数学教授の母親に憧れて育ったからよくわかる。
I sensed fun in the bold title. Toys for girls are always like princesses or idols, and there aren't many portrayals of cool women of a much older generation. Rika-chan dolls and picture books that would inspire girls to want to become super middle-aged women would be great! I grew up in awe of my mother, who's a mathematics professor, so I understand that well.
いいね〜。クラスの女子ってよくグループ作って対立するじゃん。敵グループの交換日記の暗号を破って、リーダーの好きな男子をバラしちゃうツワモノ理系女子とか現れそうだよね。女子同士の秘密や対立ってジメジメした物があるけれど、あえてそこに理系ツール持ってきて助長する発想が素晴らしい。
Nice. You know how girls in class often form groups and conflict with each other? I could imagine a strong science-minded girl emerging who could decode the shared diary of a rival group and revealing which boy the leader likes. Secrets and rivalry between girls can be dark sometimes, but intentionally bringing in scientific tools here to fuel that is a fantastic twist.
