「答えを教えないで教育するしくみ」を考えて下さい。What kind of structure could educate without teaching the answer?

自分自身がいったい何が好きで、どんなことをしたいと思っているのかを整理することって、意外とやらないですよね。「好きなものが分からない」っていう人によく出会うので、自分の説明書を作ってみるのは、オトナの皆さんや将来どうするか決まってない学生さんにも役立つかも。ウチの事務所でも、スタッフに向けてやってみようかな。

It’s surprisingly rare for people to really think about what they like and what they want to do. I often meet people who say, “I don’t know what I like,” so it may be helpful for adults and students who haven’t decided about the future to make an explanatory leaflet about themselves. Maybe I’ll try it with my staff at the office.

こじつけでもいいからストーリーに紡いでみて、その都度破綻がないか確認していくことは、デザインコンセプトを構築する基本です。物語が上手くいっているプロジェクトは大抵うまくいく。何かをデザインしたり表現する教育の前に、その表現にまつわる物語を作らせるといいかも。コンセプトの精度が上がるはず。

To spin a story even if it’s forced and then checking each time for any failures is the foundation of building a design concept. Projects with stories that work well usually succeed. Creating a story about an expression before designing or teaching the expression might be a good idea. The concept is sure to be more precise that way.

自分自身がプライドを持ってその課題に挑戦するのは大事なことですね。自信はなかなか一人だけじゃ持ちづらくって、人から認められることで持てたりするもの。例えば子供の頃から昆虫博士だと言われていれば、昆虫にずっと興味をもつはず。僕自身もそういえば小学校の夏休みの自由研究で作ったものが友達に大人気で嬉しかったことが、いまのデザイナー人生につながっている気がします。

Taking pride in tackling an issue is an important thing. It’s hard to be confident all on your own; you often gain it by receiving recognition from others. For example, if you were called an insect expert from childhood, you would probably maintain your interest in insects. Come to think of it, the project I made for summer homework in elementary school was really popular with my friends, and the joy from that probably links to my life now as a designer.

問題当番、いいですね。ジャッジが入らないほうが成立しそうな仕組みです。簡単には答えられないような、答えのない問題を投げかけることをルールにするといいでしょうね。発表当番は、正解・不正解のジャッジに繋がってしまうので、個人じゃなくてグループにしたほうが上手く行きそう。

Question duty. I like that. This system would probably be more effective if it didn’t involve judging. I think it would be good to have a rule that the questions not have an answer, so they can’t be answered easily. Presentation duty would link to “correct” or “incorrect” judgment, so it might work better to have this done as a group rather than as an individual.

何かに夢中になった子供のデータベース作成能力は侮れません。そのあたりを、ポケモンみたいなコンテンツは上手く突いているのでしょうね。かなり先生の質が問われます。この制度を踏まえた上で、相談に乗れる質の先生がいれば、本来の意味での「ゆとり教育」が成立しそう。

The ability of children to make a database when preoccupied with something could become something impressive. Content like Pokemon probably captures this essence well. This would really test the quality of teachers. If there are teachers who are qualified to provide guidance under this system, I think the “yutori (relaxed)” education policy would work as it was meant to.

１票しか入っていませんでしたが、内容がとても本質的だと思っています。先生になれる場所で生徒に先生になってもらう制度があると、自分の中でその分野への自信も持てるし、教え合える状況が生まれるはず。そうすると生徒自身がお互いの好奇心で学習を高めていくでしょうから、結果的に先生がファシリテーションに集中する状況になると、とても良い学びの場になる気がします。

This only had one vote, but I think it’s very fundamental. If there were a system for students to become teachers, they would probably gain confidence in that field and it should nurture an environment for people to teach each other. This should result in enhanced learning for students with mutual curiosity, so if the teacher could focus on being a facilitator, I think it would become a great environment for learning.

上に同じく、これも１票しか入っていませんでしたが、内容はまさに必要なことだと思います。自分で聞きに行ったり、見つけに行くから、知った時の喜びがある。それがあることでもっと学びたくなるような循環が想像できます。国語や算数や理科の小学校の各授業に取り入れたらいいと思う。このプロセスを重要視すると、勉強が好きになる気がします。

Like the above, this only had one vote, but I think the content of this idea is really what’s needed. There’s joy in learning because you go to ask or find for yourself. I can imagine that this environment would encourage students to want to learn more. I think this should be incorporated into Japanese language, math, and science classes at elementary schools. If we placed highest importance on this process, I think children would love to learn.

これも１票しか入っていませんでしたが、実現可能性がとても高い、具体的な未来の教科書の提案だと思いました。教科書の電子化は今まさにアップルが進めている事業なので、遠からずこういったものも出てくるでしょうね。誰々の教科書のメモは分かりやすくて好きだとか、それを使ったコミュニケーションができるでしょう。教科書の誤字脱字もユーザーからの報告ですぐに発見できそう。

This also had only one vote, but it’s very feasible and a concrete idea for future textbooks. Apple is working on digitalizing textbooks as we speak, so something like this will likely come out in the not-so-distant future. It would also be possible to communicate using this, such as saying “I like A’s textbook notes because they’re easy to understand.” Textbook typos would also probably be found right away from user reports.
